Experience:
* Programming in Python, C, Perl, PHP, with some Lisp, C++, Tcl/TK.* Three years' experience in computational linguistics, statistical processing, text extraction, tool and application development and application design.
* Twelve years' experience developing web sites working with HTML, graphics, extensive web systems programming in Python, PHP, C and Perl. Experience includes SQL-driven web sites, maintenance utilities, online sales tools, electronic software distribution, and the creation of large scale web services and application frameworks.
* Eleven years' experience working with UNIX (Sun OS, IRIX, ULTRIX, OSF1/Digital Unix, Linux, BSD*) including system administration, developing administration tools, installation and configuration of new hardware and software.
Work:
* January 2007 - present: Tailrank.* June 2005 - September 2006: Lead architect and developer for Junior Achievement's Banks In Action 2.0. Responsibilities in this project included porting of the game engine from a Windows C++ application to PHP and the development of the back end frame work and web components of the game. The framework had to support game setup and game control though the web as well as communicating via XML over HTTP with the Flash game client. Other requirements were that the game support internationalization and scale to large numbers of users. The initial deployment: in ten countries, translated into four languages. The platform for this project was PHP with either MS SQL server or Postgresql as the database.
* July 2003 - June 2005: Lead architect and developer for Mosuki. Responsibilities included back-end application framework design and implementation for Mosuki's core social software platform. Developed in Python and Postgresql. Additional responsibilities include managing other developers on the project.
* September 2000 - June 2003: Employed by Discern working in Lisp and Perl on their natural language processing system. Work included development tools, text processing, and linguistic tools. Responsibilities included running significant projects such as term frequency statistical analysis, advanced text extraction from HTML, and development of a database for lexical data suitable for use by linguists.
* September 1999 - August 2000: Worked for Wrapzap architecting and developing the Wrapzap web application.
* May 1999 - September 1999: Worked developing software in Python for Tycho Networks (now owned by DSL.net). This software was the back end for a trouble ticket system and advanced telephony application.
* May 1996 - May 1999: Contract work developing web sites and web-related applications using C and Perl and SQL data bases on UNIX and NT platforms.
* July 1994 - September 1995: Worked at Lockheed Space and Missile at the Lockheed Palo Alto Research Laboratory as developer of SXT (Soft X-ray Telescope) web site as well as Digital Imaging and Video Assistant.
Formal Education
* Significant course work in linguistics at University of California, Santa Cruz.
